Not sure how much faster one can go before you have diminishing returns on your investment. Is this really news? New RAM tech is always more expensive than older tech. That's how it works. Same with DDR3. And DDR4. And now DDR5. Not doing that again, especially to only have it slowly kill the motherboard. The of computing today is really pathetic.
This jump in value is caused by a number of events, but overall the situation is caused by more demand than supply. DDR3 maintains decent popularity due to the vast amount of systems that are still around, which are only compatible with the older memory technology.
This last is presumably in preparation for DDR5 production, as older foundries are updated to newer tech and used for more lucrative devices. Nanya Technology currently has a monthly production capacity of about , wafers. PSMC on the other hand has a monthly production run of just 30,, wafers, but the company wants to expand its capacity in the future. DDR3 production is slowly shifting from top memory brands like SK Hynix and Samsung to smaller companies that can still turn a profit off the older memory architecture.
The voltage configured was standard 1. Again, we can see that the latency is on the high side but we can expect it to improve as binned DIMMs enter the market. By Hassan Mujtaba. Oct 22, EDT.
