Why do people watch icarly

As one of the first shows to encroach into internet influencer space, it touched on a lot of aspects of online culture that still feel relevant, from obsessive stans to viral boxing matches. But what is a surprise is how iCarly keeps the tone of the original series, while elevating the content for the audience that grew up with it. The new show picks up nine years or so after the original left off, with most of the original cast back to take up their old roles.

After waffling about whether she can create something on her own, Carly decides to go ahead and revive her old show. Paramount Plus launched the show with three episodes, with new installments releasing on Fridays. In the first three episodes alone, Carly deals with trying to make a viral comeback, facing haters, and her brother getting canceled. In the most low-stakes way possible — he creates an art exhibition making fun of influencers, who decide to come for him.

It could feel heavy-handed, but iCarly was never built for subtlety. Moments like Carly recreating a Miranda Cosgrove meme in-show, she does this while looking at a meme of herself — meta! Of course, I do remember browsing online job sites while I watched it too, but this show kept me company when I thought the world was against me and I had virtually no self-esteem from being rejected by so many employers, so thank you for the quality entertainment throughout your 5 year run.

Honestly, if parents take the time to watch the WHOLE dynamic of the show and not just one episode, an intelligent person can come to notice the sarcasm and hidden positive messages in iCarly. Not all material is meant to be taken seriously and yes we all know "but children do not understand sarcasm" Protect them away, bound to never see light and the natural honesty of the world? If there is a topic that you find sarcastic meant to be a joke and not an actual real world act that is acceptable , find the time to actually talk to your children!

Explain why that certain behavior is meant to be taken as a joke in that tv show but not to be done in real life. Another point, is that if you see the development of character between Carly, Sam, and Freddie Yes Carly was practically spoiled, but look how her character grows Sam, she is constantly being crushed by ignorant parents on here. Number one, she represents a girl who had a hard life: a father who left her, a mother who doesn't care or is even there for her half her life, and being shunned to the side by a "popular" "better" sister.

Of course many of her age would take out their frustrations in impulsive ways as she does. You have to be understanding. A bully is a bully but have you given the time to understand why the bully acts that way? What drove them to that low point? Number two, Sam has grown as a character as well.. Notice how much of a good friend she is when she sees that her friends are truly in trouble. She always comforts Carly and does the same for Freddie now that she is more open with him She is by far the most complex, yet brilliant character in this show.

To those that missed it, I feel sorry for. I ask that you take notice of that complex character and explain to your children that there are people in the world that can be mean, but also have a reason behind their actions. Don't ignore a character like that parents, if you do, then you are ignoring the child in the classroom that comes from an abusive home: the child that can one day turn to suicide because of people like us that don't take the time to notice them. They are not invisible, do not be the silent bully parents.

Having no actions and keeping our mouths shut will only distance ourselves from a powerful connection we could have with our kids. Parent of a 5, 10, and year-old Written by ConcernedMother52 October 6, Best Show I've ever watched with my kids!

While these may seem like relatively good shows, with strong leads, gripping narration etc, my eyes were truly opened when one day, I sat down with all three of my kids and iCarly popped up on the screen. At first I thought it was just another children's sitcom, and was about to flick off, when the show's opening stated playing, and my finger was frozen, unable to remove the my eyes from the screen, let alone change the channel.

In the space of a single episode, I felt I had gotten closer to the characters - however, once we got the rest of the episodes playing, I realised it had just been the tip of the iceberg.

Having only discovered it after airing, we marathoned all seven seasons, stopping only for toilet and food breaks. I laughed, I cried, and I laughed some more. The show was perfect. Even now, I can find no flaws with it other than the fact it had ended. Great for all ages, with a story line that is both moving and comedic and characters lovable by all. While I feel the show can be appreciated by all, I think the story speaks most to those who have fully experienced most of the events the characters in the show go through - all the mental stress school can put on you, whether it be academic results or relationships with others.

As such, and I'm sure my 17 year old will agree with me, I believe to fully relate with the characters in the show and as such enjoy it, I recommend holding off until your child has reached an old enough age. However, I would still recommend this to parents of children of all ages, as the story and humour is still easily understandable enough for even the youngest of children. Positive role models.
